Rachel Craig
Rachel Craig is an artist working with kiln-formed glass. She has studied with many professional glass artist tutors and has a Higher Education certificate in glass and ceramics; awarded by the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham. Rachel’s glass artwork is mostly fused or cast. Nature has always been a strong inspiration for her and she loves combining her passion for the natural world along with the wonder of glass. In this exhibition she has chosen to work mainly with cast glass using a lost wax or burn out method.
Many of her other pieces of glass artwork use her detailed knowledge of the reactive chemical properties of the glass with various metals to create abstract natural world pieces of unique artwork. Even with extensive testing which enables her to predict outcomes there is still an element of anticipation and excitement after each firing as variables play their part, and no two pieces will ever react in precisely the same way.
She is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society, Just Glass group and the UK Glass Art Collective; and most recently sold work at the Just Glass exhibition which was part of the International Festival of Glass.
