Heather Russell

Heather is a glass artist who particularly enjoys glass fusing and kiln casting. She works from her studio in Hertfordshire and looks to the natural world for her inspiration. Originally drawn to the aesthetics of translucent glass, she is fascinated by its apparent dichotomies: glass appears liquid while actually solid; it is sometimes fragile yet it can possess great strength; it allows light to transmit through it, yet it also reflects light. Heather finds that colour is key to her creative process and she often blends coloured glass powders to form specific hues, tints and tones when experimenting with different forms and textures. She is a founder member of the UK Glass Art Collective.
