Mandy Capel

Mandy moved from South Africa to the UK in 2002. A lifelong passion for the arts led her to specialise in home décor, personalised gifts, and jewellery, drawing inspiration from both her South African roots and her life in the UK. Her work focuses on glass fusing, exploring texture and colour through hand-assembled pieces that often undergo multiple firings. Each piece transforms in the kiln, with the final result often guided by the glass itself.

Recently, Mandy has been expanding her practice to include silver clay, lampworking, and modelling glass, opening up exciting new creative possibilities. She has also started teaching modelling glass workshops, sharing this versatile medium with others and inspiring creativity through hands-on learning.

Her pieces can be found in exhibitions and galleries across the South West and UK. She enjoys connecting with fellow artists and the wider community through both her work and teaching. Glasschick was born from her love of glass and chickens, with Lilly the Silkie—part of the family—featured in the logo as a symbol of joyful serendipity.

Mandy is a founding member of the UK Glass Art Collective and a member of the Contemporary Glass Society, Plain Arts Salisbury, and Salisbury Art Scene.
