Fabio Di Vetro
Like any glassmith worth their frit, Fabio hails from the beautiful Italian penisula. Although the cascading Turinese hills he calls home are more used to stately baroque and finely carved marble than the exquisitite handcrafted glasswork he creates.
Having called London home for the last two decades, Fabio originally discovered his knack for the wonderful craft of glassmithing during lockdown. The opportunity to channel his creativity into such a uniquely wonderful and time honoured skill has now become a rich passion that he pours his creative devotion into.
Fabio focus on the skills of frit and fuse allows him to explore a number of themes in his work, but he is particularly drawn to the issue of sustainability in our modern society. With the energy intensive requirements of his chosen medium of fused glass, his home studio employs solar panels to achieve its carbon negative status and provide a little peace of mind for the climate conscious.
Tide & Flame
Exhibiting at Ferrers Gallery 30th May – 15th June 2025
In this work, I sought to capture the eternal conversation between ocean and sky—a meeting of opposites, forever in motion yet never apart. The wave, sculpted in layered glass, rises not in fury but in longing, its crest reaching toward a sky painted in the warm breath of a setting sun. Driftwood, worn and wise, anchors the moment in memory, while coral whispers of life hidden just beneath the surface.
This heart of glass holds the pulse of both sea and sky—fierce, fluid, and fleeting. It is a tribute to the wild beauty that surrounds us, and the quiet pull it leaves within.

Kiln-formed glass with copper and oxides
Gothi II
Exhibiting at Ferrers Gallery 30th May – 15th June 2025
In Gothi II, I continue an exploration of glass as a vessel for transformation—where chemistry, color, and chance converge. Formed in a single, flowing gesture, the dish recalls the contours of ocean currents or the spiral of a shell. Its translucent blue surface, flecked with subtle specks and shimmering inclusions, is the result of a reaction between glass, copper, and metal oxides—an alchemical process that mirrors the unpredictable beauty of the sea.
These embedded materials interact under intense heat to create organic patterns that resemble marine textures: bubbles rising from the deep, fish darting through light, or coral formations caught mid-growth. Each piece in the Gothi series is unique, shaped not only by the hand but by the inherent wildness of reaction.
This work stands as a quiet meditation on emergence and complexity—how elemental forces, once in dialogue, can yield forms that are both fragile and enduring. Gothi II invites the viewer to look closer, to find beauty in the delicate tensions that shape both nature and art.
To Touch the moon
Exhibiting at Ferrers Gallery 30th May – 15th June 2025
In this dreamscape, a whale breaks through the ocean’s surface, not just to breathe—but to leap skyward in a quest to touch the moon. This piece is crafted entirely from glass, using hand-painted elements and reactive techniques involving silver foil and various metal-bearing frits. The swirling sky and cosmic backdrop speak to the mystical connection between sea and sky, and the powerful pull of celestial curiosity.
